KPK jails to get mobile phone signal jammers
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtukhwa
(KPK) government Thursday sought tenders for installing cellular phone
signal jammers in all jails of the province.
According to details, public call office (PCO) would be put in place to facilitate the inmates.
Provincial Minister for Jails, Mian
Nisar Gul while talking to newsmen said that due to an eminent threat of
terrorism in jails throughout the prison, orders have been issued for
the procurement and installation of mobile phone jammers. He said that
tenders were sought in this regard and work would initiate on the
project within the next two weeks.
Nisar said that the project would
cost about Rs40 million, adding that, such jammers would be installed in
Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan, Haripur, and Bannu jails in the first phase
and consequently in district jails during the second phase.
