Pak ban on Ek Tha Tiger
Pakistan authorities have asked television networks to
stop promoting the Salman Khan-starrer Ek Tha Tiger till it is cleared
by the Central Board of Film Censors.
The reason
cited by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) is
the negative reference to Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the shadowy
military intelligence agency. Pemra said the film referred to
activities of the intelligence agencies of India and Pakistan and the
objective was to tarnish the image of the ISI. However, from the order
it is clear that the final decision on the fate of the film will be
taken by the Censor Board which is yet to see this latest offering from
Yash Raj Films due for worldwide release mid-August.

Govt Moves Bill to Control, Govern ISI
President Asif Ali Zardari’s Spokesman and a PPP Senator Farhatullah Babar has moved a private bill in the Senate to bring the influential Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) under some legislative control.
The draft bill of the PPP Senator is a replica of the draft law formulated in the past for the civilian intel agency, Intelligence Bureau (IB).However political analysts say neither the IB’s legislative bill could make headway nor it is expected in the case of the ISI.
The government that moved quickly on the issues of dual national’s right on contesting election and amendment in contempt of court law, passing the draft bills through cabinet, chose to table a private member’s bill on the legislation for ISI though the President’s Spokesman, Senator Farhatullah Babar, was used for the purpose.
Now as the bill has been tabled, neither former spy chiefs nor political parties are inclined to speak on it. The News contacted recently retired DG ISI, Lt. Gen. (r) Shuja Pasha and one of his predecessors, Lt. Gen. (r) Asad Durrani for comments on this private bill. Both feigned ignorance, saying they were neither aware of this move nor had read about it in the newspapers.

Afghan Taliban break Saripul Jail, Free 170 Mujahideen; Kill 13 Terrorist Invaders
SARIPUL, Jun. 08 – Last night, Mujahideen of Islamic Emirate participated in a successful armed offensive amid operation Al-Farooq on the security belt of Saripul provincial prison and freed hundreds of prisoners. Details of the operation state that a group of Mujahideen initially attacked the surrounding enemy security posts while a second group proceeded towards the main prison wall, blew a hole with explosives and overran the check post inside.
It is said that some 13 cowardly terrorist invaders were also killed in the attack and dozens of others wounded. 170 Mujahideen inmates including governors and group commanders were later freed and transferred to a safe location. Similar operations have also been carried out in Kandahar province twice previously in which 1000 inmates were freed the first time and 450 the second. This successful operation demonstrates that the enemy deeply lacks the moral and military skills despite being deeply entrenched and still failing in protecting the prison.
