19 Brigadiers promoted to Major Generals

The Army Promotion Board, headed by COAS General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, promoted 19 Brigadiers to the rank of Major General on July 14. These included former in-charge of Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs) Crisis Management Cell Brig Omar Mahmood Hayat, Head of ISI Karachi, Brigadier Shafiq, whose father served in the Army as a JCO, Chief of Staff in Rawalpindi Corps Brig Hafiz Masroor (Infantry), Brig Musarrat Nawaz (Artillery) of the Bahalwalpur Corps, the man who earned the sword-of-honour in the 71st PMA, Brig Mohammad Irshad, and Presidential Medal holder Brig Samrez Salik (Artillery). Brig Umar Farook Burki (Armoured), currently posted in GHQ's MI Branch, Brig Naseer Ali Khan of the Southern Command Quetta, NDU's Brig Akhtar Jamil Rao, Aviation's Brig Nasir Dilawar Shah, Brig Arshad
Mehmood, Brig Tariq Haleem Suri (Ordnance) and Brig Sanaullah (Infantry). Two brigadiers belonging to the EME - Brig Rehan Abdul Baqi and Brig Khalid Mehmood - and four brigadiers from the Army Medical Corps - Brig Asif Mumtaz Sukhera, Brig Maqbool Ahmed, Brig M Ayyub, and Brig Syed M Imran Majeed - were also promoted to the next rank.
