India releases 'stray' Pakistani soldier
A Pakistani soldier, who unknowingly crossed Line of Control, was handed
over to the Pakistani authorities on July 13. According to media
reports, the action was in accordance to the ceasefire agreement between
the two countries. NDTV, however, reported that the soldier was looking
for 'asylum' in India due to lack of basic facilities on Pakistan
border. The news channel said Arif Ali of the Frontier Force was
arrested on July 12. He was unarmed. In October 2011, Pakistan had
allowed an Indian Army helicopter carrying four army officials to
return after it had strayed into its territory.
